Festive Floral Arrangements From An Award-Winning Florist

Most Christmas flowers you see online look identical because they follow the same template. The Hidden Garden takes a different approach after 26 years of designing for the holidays. Every arrangement gets built by hand with an eye for how it will sit in real rooms next to real Christmas trees. The difference shows when someone walks through your door and notices the flowers before they notice the stockings.

Amy’s Advice

Which Flowers Are Christmassy?

Oh, where do I even start? Amaryllis  are the obvious Christmas pick and honestly they never let me down.

Paperwhites bring that sweet scent people go crazy for. Holly with the red berries? Non-negotiable in my book. And you cannot skip the evergreens like pine and cedar. They add texture and smell like Christmas morning.

What Is The Name Of The Traditional Red Christmas Flower?

Poinsettias. That is the answer pretty much everywhere you go.

These plants are native to Mexico where the Aztecs grew them centuries ago. They used the red parts for fabric dyes back then. Spanish missionaries caught on during the 1600s and started putting poinsettias in their nativity processions since the plants bloom naturally right around Christmas.

There is this old legend about a girl named Pepita who was too poor to bring a real gift to baby Jesus. She picked weeds from the roadside instead. When she laid them at the nativity scene, they turned into those famous red flowers.

What Flowers Are Good For Bouquets In December?

Red roses are the safe bet because they are available all year and they look right at home next to holiday greenery. White lilies sell well too since they brighten things up and play nice with whatever color scheme you have going on.

Carnations last forever in water which is clutch when you want something that holds up through all your holiday parties. I am also a big fan of hypericum berries. Those little red balls scattered throughout an arrangement add so much.

What Is A Simple Christmas Centerpiece For A Table?

Grab some evergreen branches from your backyard or snip the bottom off your Christmas tree. Toss in a few pinecones. Add holly berries or fresh cranberries for color. Throw it all in a wood bowl with a candle and call it a day.

Seriously, that is it.

What Colors Are Trending For Christmas 2025?

Green is having a major moment this year. Every shade from soft sage to deep pine is showing up and it works whether your house is traditional or super modern.

Rich tones are also everywhere. Think forest green paired with wine or even coffee brown. These deeper colors look killer next to warm metals like gold and brass. The classic red and green combo is not going anywhere but people are branching out. Jewel tones like emerald and sapphire are popular. Some folks are even doing lavender or deep blue which surprised me at first but it actually works.

Metallics got an upgrade too. Shiny chrome is out. Brushed gold mixed with antique silver is in. Soft copper alongside champagne brass is another combo I keep seeing. Everything feels warmer and more collected this year instead of flashy. I put together a whole breakdown of my favorite holiday color combos on the blog
